Few vehicles embody power as well as trucks. In the automobile universe, trucks play the part of giants and no other vehicle can question their place. But all this power is not necessarily put to good use. If you have one truck or a whole fleet and you wish to improve on performance and save on fuel expenses, maybe it is time to consider chiptuning your engine.
Chiptuning your engine: how does it work?
You certainly heard of automobile tuning. It’s a practice whose goal it is to push your vehicle’s engine to its maximum performance. We have a tendency to believe that it relates to making vehicles faster or more powerful, but the tuning covers a number of other scenarios. In the case of trucks, the goal of engine chiptuning is to mainly make the vehicle less dependent on fuel.
In order to do this, it is a matter of getting to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to modify the standard vehicle settings. For example, you could achieve a stable linear power on all engine revs, or a better torque for the management of a very heavy load. Each of these modifications must obviously be done by an expert in order to make sure your truck runs well.
The interest in having chiptuned trucks
A chiptuned truck is a huge asset in many respects. First of all, chiptuning comes with improving a vehicle’s performance and it prolongs the engine’s life expectancy. In the case of a fleet, you would be less subject to breakdowns and would not need to renew your vehicles so often.
Next, the truck tuning makes the vehicles more efficient from a fuel management point of view. You would therefore spend less for fuel and you could save on operational costs, and eventually lower your service costs.
Finally, you could apply many other modifications to your engines so that the trucks can carry heavier loads or make faster trips. You could regulate the particulate emissions for diesel engines, adjust the speed limiting device to better manage your fleet, and much more...
